The Benefits of Running More Than One Type of Background Check

We offer several different kinds of background checks, but can you benefit from running more than one? If you’re dealing with someone who has lived in several states, or if you are not sure of their background, the answer is an unequivocal yes. Here are just a few of the benefits that you can get from running more than one check:

1. The complete picture. If someone managed to stay out of trouble since arriving in one state, their background check in that state may not pull up the vital information that you need to know. In this case, a nationwide background check would pull up any events in other states that would otherwise go unnoticed in one focused background check. This information will provide you with the full picture on someone’s background, instead of a simple snapshot that may be missing important components. It is well worth the extra money to make sure that you know exactly who you are dealing with.

2. Records vary in different counties. If the individual you are searching for has lived in several locations in one state, you may run into problems on how the different counties collect and distribute records. For example, the first county may not report misdemeanors, or they may not make specific records public. If you are only searching in that particular county, you won’t be able to get the information that you need. However, by searching statewide, you’ll be able to easily collect information from multiple recording agencies with one easy step, saving you time and possibly a lot of trouble.

3. Federal records may be more complete. We also offer the ability to search through the Federal database for background information that is more comprehensive. States do not always log federal criminal information and may miss some important details that you need. By performing both a statewide and a federal search, you are making sure that any crimes that the individual may have committed, whether on a state or federal level, will be found.

4. Better chances of finding information you need. If you are unsure of a person’s past, or you don’t know where they have lived throughout their lives, a nationwide search will be very beneficial in uncovering information from several states and agencies at once. This is very useful if you’re unable to collect enough information about someone before running a search.

Keep in mind however, that you will need the person’s full name, birthdate and if possible, their social security number to ensure that you are not getting results on the wrong person. The chances of finding two people with the same name is much higher when you are searching on the national level than it is when searching state or county wide.

Even though it will cost more money to search through all of the available databases, the extra expense will provide you with more information on a person and may uncover information that you would not have had access to with only one search.
